These pocket watches were issued for use for railroad workers in the first half of the 20th century. The ability to keep accurate time was essential in a profession that relied on transport punctuality. The little safety hook you see in the video was devised to prevent railway staff from accidentally altering the time. In many cases, a thin strip of paper was also added by the railway's supervisor, to ensure that none of his employees had tampered with the time. A damaged piece of paper would confirm this. The case maker is Fortune, a Canadian company, and this pocket watch was most likely used on Canadian railways.
