A series where I interview ASMRtists around the world....next stop: Nigeria! Special thanks to Shuga ASMR for being an amazing guest! Check out her channel here: https://bit.ly/shugaasmr One of my favorite videos of Shuga ASMR: https://bit.ly/3BIOP5K Egusi Soup Recipe (from Shuga) INGREDIENTS •Meat •Onions •4 cups of grinded Egusi (melon seeds) •1⁄2 – 1 cup palm oil •2-3 pieces of Okpehe (Locust beans) •Salt (to taste) •Maggi Spice (to taste) •Ground crayfish (to taste) •Fresh Pepper •Stockfish •Dried fish • Washed and sliced Ugwu leaves (Pumpkin leaves) Now for the fun part... STEPS IN MAKING THE SOUP: 1. Wash your meat, dried fish and stock fish. 2. Put them in a pot and add your sliced onions, salt and maggi for taste(according to your preference). Then heat up your pot to cook. 3. Once your meat is properly cooked, bring it down and get ready to fry your egusi. 4. In a bowl, add a little bit of water to your grinded Egusi and mix it up till you form a paste (the paste shouldn't be so thick...a little watery). 5. Then get you another pot (preferably something large enough to contain the soup), heat the palm oil on medium for a minute or two (just so it melts out) then add your onions. 6. Fry your onions for a minute or two (I like to fry for long just to really get the taste of the onions in the oil) then you add your Egusi paste. 7. Fry your Egusi for 5-10 minutes. This mostly depends on how well you like fried food. And make sure to stir thoroughly while frying to avoid burning. 8. Once you are done frying your Egusi, slowly add your stock in it and stir. Then allow it to cook for 2 – 5 minutes. 9. After that you add your cooked meat and dried fish and stock fish into the soup. 10. Also add your sliced (or blended) pepper, crayfish, as well as salt and maggi for taste, and stir. 11. Leave to cook for 10 – 20 minutes. 12. Taste for seasonings. Add more if needed. 13. Then add your cut-up Ugwu leaves to the soup, stir, put the lid back on the pot and allow to cook 5 – 7 minutes. 14. Turn off heat and serve yourself a delicious plate of Egusi soup which you could enjoy with Semo, Garri or Pounded Yam. Enjoy! Love these type of videos?
