No, that’s not a misprint that you’re reading. ‘Nice’ cream is a thing. While this looks like a bowl of ice cream and tastes like a bowl of ice cream it is in fact just a bowl of frozen, blended banana — also known as ‘nice cream’. (I guess it’s called ‘nice’ because it’s nicer for your health than traditional ice cream?) When blended, the frozen banana turns into a creamy soft serve-like texture — just like ice cream! How this magic works, I’m not entirely sure. (I believe it has something to do with the starches in the fruit?) The important thing to note is that it will only work with frozen banana and you will need a high-speed, high-powered blender (I have a Vitamix) to make it. Blenders with less speed and less power will not be able to cope with the force needed to break down the frozen banana. Also, riper (spotty) bananas work better for this as they’ll be sweeter and produce a more creamy consistency. Naturally, it’s going to taste like banana. A delicious banana ice cream, that is! However, there are so many ways to flavour it if you are wanting less of a banana taste. You can blend other ingredients with the banana, e.g. cocoa powder for a chocolatey feel, berries, caramel or pumpkin spice flavours. Just think of the banana base as your ‘vanilla base’ and flavour it how you see fit. Today, I’ve left the banana base as is and have topped it with some delicious additions of melted dark chocolate, chopped almonds and coconut flakes. I really hope you get to try nice cream one day as it’s a super healthy and super yummy dessert. As always, thank you for watching ❤️
