FIRST FAST FOOD RESTAURANTS - POMPEI
Description
Do you know that the earliest fast food restaurants appears 2000 years ago. Archaeologists have discovered over 80 thermopolia which is ancient street food bars in the ruins of Pompeii. These small shops served hot, ready-to-eat food to locals and travelers who often didn’t have kitchens at home. The counters were decorated with colorful frescoes showing what was on the menu, including duck, chicken, fish, and even snails. One thermopolium even had traces of leftover food and wine in its jars when it was excavated!
