Fun fact of the day: The first commercially available mousepad is credited to Jack Kelley in 1969. PC mice at the time needed smooth and even surfaces to function consistently. To improve tracking, Kelley created the first textured pad that resolved most of the accuracy issues of that time. Unlike the original cloth mousepad, the first glass mousepad does not have a single documented inventor, however, one of the earliest commercial glass pads was called the “Precise Mousing Surface” and was created by the still well-known 3M company (yes, the ones who create adhesive products). Modern gaming glass pads made by companies like Wallhack (formerly SkyPad) and Pulsar share the same vision of the 90s, but with improved glass manufacturing technology, creating a marvel of modern engineering and a highly desirable product among many competitive gamers today!!
