When I was in elementary school, calligraphy brought me so many ups and downs. Writing elegant and powerful characters earned me praise from my teachers—if they circled a character in red ink on the rice paper, it meant it was really good. ⭕ The more red circles, the prouder I felt. Of course, the practice could be frustrating too; sometimes I'd get upset over not being able to nail a single character. 😤😢 Looking back now, it was such a rich and vivid part of my adolescence. 🧡 Unfortunately, I didn't stick with it. While preparing for college entrance exams, I stopped practicing, and my calligraphy skills regressed to "Pangu separating heaven and earth" (aka, back to the very beginning of time, when writing didn't even exist yet).. 🌌💔 That's been a huge regret for me. So now I'm picking up this hobby again—not just to honor my younger self, but also to reconnect with the millennia-old charm of Chinese calligraphy that I couldn't fully appreciate as a child.
