Hello cutiepies! Thank you so much for joining me again. Today I want to show you an small part of the ornamentation that Odissi dancers wear before a dance presentation. The jewelry is made by intricate filigree silver pieces. Filigree in Oriya it is called Tarkasi. This highly skilled art form is more than 500 years old and is traditionally done by local artisans on the Eastern shores of Orissa. The jewelry pieces themselves are an important part of the Odissi dance costume. In this video I will tell you the way each jewel is called in Oriya language and I will show you the detailed work that these present. I hope you like it and if any of you feel interested into learning this Art just remember that it is a DEVOTIONAL classical dance and because of that it should be treated with respect. Never just to respond to a fashion or to look pretty. Thanks for watching and if you are new here do not forget to subscribe! :D
