Poetry is really a lens into our own minds, so poems often slip into my thinking when I lose my way in there. I want to be sure to tell you that I'll be talking a little bit about dementia, abuse, and ultimately, forgiveness. If you are in the mood for something entirely light, you may want to skip out today. However, I think the video has a hopeful tone, and I was deeply inspired to create it. You all, of course, are that inspiration. Some of you are nursing loved ones, some of you are trying to overcome anger. I wanted to show solidarity in my own small way. About the poem: As usual, I won't be going into technical tropes here. But I do want to comment that I've chosen to read against the B pattern rhyme. I've always considered Bishop's intention to lose the rhyme and meter a bit, in favor of the stream of informal prosaic content. I invite you to read it aloud once embracing the breaks and rhymes, and once ignoring them, remembering this a poem about losing and finding. Many of you have asked for a Draw My Life video, but I'll admit I'm not quite ready for that. I did feel ready to share a bit about my past and obstacles here and I wish that they will not make you feel uncomfortable. I also would like this to feel like a safe place for people dealing with similar issues, so please be especially constructive and civil to one another. I am so honored by your continued warmth and rational discussion. News: Big news, in fact. An admitted audio neophyte, I have finally found a way to present clearer, more binaural audio. I'm hoping that in the next couple weeks, you'll start to hear a noticeable difference, especially with the 3-D, binaural effects. Thank you for your grace and patience. I'm excited and I hope my videos will be better than ever very soon. This video will be the last done "the old way," but I may be a little bit slower with videos as I test and learn these coming weeks.
