Autonomous sensory meridian response (ASMR) is an experience characterized by a static feeling or tingling on the skin, typically starting from the scalp and moving to the back of the neck and backbone. It has been compared with auditory-tactile synesthesia. ASMR is the subjective experience of "low grade happiness" characterized by "positive emotions and a distinctive static tingling sensation on the skin". This is usually triggered by specific acoustics, visual and digital media stimuli, and is less commonly triggered by intentional control of the intent.
