Hey y'all, I've been working on this silly little project and I could really use some feedback. tl;dr: I'm wondering if the ADR-style audio on this is distracting/obvious enough to merit a reshoot. Longer version: This is a near beat-for-beat remake of the classic unintentional "curtain lady" ASMR video from the early 2000s. Just with a slight sci-fi twist. In order to get the lines/beats/cadence/inflection/etc. as precise as possible, I was listening to the original audio from the source video as I filmed. This worked great for timing but, unfortunately, with the audio playing in my earbuds I wasn't able to hear myself well and was WAY louder than I meant to be. It's a fun performance, but I just don't think I can get away with sharing it as an ASMR video with how loud my voice is. So, I decided to do ADR (automated dialogue replacement—a film post-production technique in which dialogue is re-recorded by performers in a studio to replace any audio in the film that needs improvement for some reason.) What you'll hear in this clip is a "rough pass" ... I did a quick trial run with the first few lines to see if it might work. I think it's okay, but I'm concerned that it's just too obvious and distracting to work. (Keep in mind, though, that if I go this route the actual ADR should be a little more precise and polished than the test run here.) At this point my options are: 1. Publish the video as is with original audio. (Which I think is just way too loud.) 2. Replace all the original audio with ADR. 3. Reshoot the whole thing. I'd like to avoid a reshoot if possible for time and stress reasons, but I also don't want to put a bunch of time and effort into ADR-ing the video and then publish something that's too distractingly "fake" for most people to really enjoy. So ... again, keeping in mind that it was a rough test run, how do y'all feel about the ADR audio in this clip? I'm just not sure whether it's as obvious as I think it is, or whether it seems more obvious to me because I know what the original audio sounds like. Thanks so much in advance for your insight, I really appreciate it!
