This week I spent a few days road tripping around the Japanese countryside, embarking on trails up alpine forests and into waterfall filled valleys. Each day has been so different, but all have been FULL and brimming with LIFE. An openness to be touched! I only included one trail in this video, as to keep the others close to my heart, but I thought it would be fun to incorporate some food into this story, as I love eating in Japan. The amount I eat is always fluctuating depending on my activity level and the time of month. Typically I eat two big meals a day, but when hiking I find myself snacking throughout the whole day. Whenever I listen to what my body needs without rules and dogmatic expectation - my digestion usually thrives and the food noise dissipates. As someone who has had a lifetime of struggling on and off with binge eating; my only discipline is trying to touch unconditional love and acceptance once per day - it naturally ripples out into the choices I make and the way I treat my body. I am SO grateful to live in this body,. To move and experience the world with ease. I am grateful for every experience that has imprinted onto my awareness, deepening my connection to culture, community, and all beings of this Earth. Though there is much information out there on what diet to follow, and how we should be moving. I trust in simple ancestral ways - eating local produce, mixed veggies, protein, and keeping my sugar intake low. These are my preferences but not laws.
