Hey, guess what?!! I finally got the kitchen to myself! Clapping with delight! It is time to make some wonderful scones from scratch. And the reason I made scones is because I really want to have a tea party with my daughter, Abigail. She has agreed to be in another video with me. I will talk more about that in this video. Anyway, these scones were soooo good with those huge chunks of chocolate. Hang around with me and listen to the comforting sounds of someone in the kitchen. These scones are for you! The sounds you will hear in this video will be of stirring, scraping, mixing, beating, paper crinkles, plastic crinkles, wood bowls & spoons, rain, birds & my soft spoken voice. Chocolate Chip Scone Recipe Preheat oven to 400 F. Ingredients: 2 Cups all purpose flour, 1/4 Cup sugar, 1 1/4 tsps. baking powder, 1/4 tsp. baking soda, 1/4 tsp. salt, 1/2 cup unsalted butter (cold),1 cup dark chocolate chips, 3/4 cup buttermilk, tsp vanilla, 1 egg (optional) ------------------------- Whisk together the dry ingredients. Grate the cold butter using a cheese grater. Use knife to blend butter with the flour mixture. Mix in chocolate chips. In separate bowl, whisk together the buttermilk & vanilla and egg. Add wet ingredients to flour mixture just until incorporated. (Do not over mix to avoid dense scones) With a little flour on a clean surface, knead the dough for about a minute. Shape into a circle about 1 1/2 inches thick. Cut into wedges like a pie. Place scones on lined baking pan. Brush top of scones with buttermilk. Bake 22-25 minutes or until golden brown.
