A soft spoken, ear to ear tutorial on how to make one of my favorite hot beverages, Masala Chai. Okay, so it's not QUITE ten minutes, but I hope you enjoy nonetheless! :)) **Special thanks to Jay for giving me some great tips on making my own masala chai! ASMR Triggers in this video include softly spoken ear to ear narration, tapping, stirring, pouring water / milk Here are some great sources that helped me in making this tutorial: http://www.keeperofthehome.org/2013/12/how-to-make-real-indian-masala-chai-tea-in-5-minutes-2.html http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Masala_chai Twinings Chai | RECIPE | Ingredients: - 1 cup water - 1 tbsp loose leaf black tea - 2 cardamom pods (1/3 tsp ground) - 1/8 teaspoon fennel seeds - 2 whole cloves (1/2 tsp ground) - 1/2 cinnamon stick (1 tsp ground) - 1/8 tsp ground ginger, or to be really authentic, 1 tbsp freshly grated ginger - 1 cup low fat or whole milk (not fat free) - Sugar to taste - 2 teaspoons suit me just fine! Equipment: - Measuring devices - Mortar and pestle - Medium Saucepan - Mesh Strainer - A wooden spoon - A tea cup or mug - (And a stove, of course :P) Directions: - Turn the stove on to a medium to medium high heat, and add water and loose leaf tea to the saucepan. - As the tea heats and begins to steep, prepare the fennel seeds and cardamom pods by grinding them with a mortar and pestle. (If you’re already using pre-ground ingredients, this step is not necessary) - Add the fennel seeds and cardamom pods to the saucepan, as well as the remainder of the spices, then stir just enough to blend everything together. - Once the mixture is brought to a light boil, add milk. As the mixture is brought to a boil once again, keep a close eye as the milk may boil quickly and spill over. - Add the sugar. - Turn off the heat and remove the saucepan from the stove. - Place the strainer on top of the mug to strain the tea. Done! ***This video was created primarily for relaxation and ASMR purposes.
