Maps are from: Glück/Rödel (ed.): Metzler Lexikon Sprache, 5th edition. (in German) Grammar overview from Ersen-Rasch/Seyhan: Güle Güle. Türkisch für Anfänger. (for German speakers) Today we're looking at the Turkic languages, a family found in large parts of Asia. It has some really interesting grammatical features like agglutination and vowel harmony, and we'll also briefly discuss whether it might be part of a larger family called Altaic languages. One sober point: I said that the larger Turkic languages have a stable or even growing number of speakers. I'm not confident over whether that's true for Uighur. Some of the Tuvan bands I mentioned: Huun-Huur-Tu play traditional songs, Yat-Kha play a traditional/rock/punk fusion I have no words for, maybe the coolest band on the planet, and also check out the Chalama Project by a Radik Tyulyush (sometimes also transliterated as Tülüsh) who was in both bands, a voice out of this world. And if you feel yourself drifting off halfway through, that's perfectly fine! Sleep well 💖 *** You can support my channel via: https://www.paypal.com/paypalme/melan...
