(Correction: In 1912, the former suburbs were of course already part of the City of Vienna! Apparently I fell asleep there for a moment as well...) One of the things that has brought me a lot of joy recently is the cinema pass. For a fixed monthly rate, you get to go to the cinema as often as you want! It's for "Programmkinos", so arthouse cinemas that show independent productions, European movies, but also some classics - like Jurassic Park last weekend. The pass is called Non Stop Kino, and while I only focus on Vienna here, there are participating cinemas in all of Austria (Linz, Innsbruck, Salzburg, Graz...). There is also one more place in Vienna, the Cinecentre, that I forgot to mention - they joined in September as well. Sadly The Place Beyond The Pines was sold out (apparently more people are having a Ryan Gosling phase at the moment...), but I did get tickets to a screening of The Room a few days later! Possibly the highlight of my cinema year thus far - only because of the audience, though. *** Audio only version is available on various podcast platforms.
