I see an opportunity to handle life better now. I have been in therapy for years in the past and done a lot of work on myself, both individual, but also group therapy, and it definitely helped to some extent, but it certainly did not help with my PMDD. How could it, when it was an unbalance in my brain of some sort. I have been offered and recommended this medication in the past as well from what I can remember, but it was always out of the question for me. I wanted to go the natural route and heal myself naturally with supplements and what not, but I came to the point where I felt I had been trying everything and nothing had helped me become better. There is a lot of judgement about SSRIs, and I was one of them that had very negative opinions about it. I thought that it was dangerous, and a risk to my health taking it, but why do I feel so much better? As I heard a therapist say something like «the medication is not for everyone, but for some it can be life saving/changing». I must say I have tried antidepressant in the past twice, but I always ended it within a few days because I was terrified of it, and did not believe it could help me. I also want to mention that I did experience anxiety the first night I took it, but I believe that was just placebo from being told that anxiety could happen, and this was so new and scary to me, not knowing how this would affect me. Well… I haven’t been on it for too long yet so I can not say for sure how the long term effect will be, but the future looks much brighter. I finally have found something that works.
