It was around midnight the morning of January 28th, 2022 when, for about the 3rd night in a row, I heard what sounded like owls coming from somewhere outside of our house. Owls! In the suburbs! The last thing I would ever to expect to hear. So I cracked open a window, gave a listen, and that's exactly what I was hearing! Fueled with excitement and now wide awake, I quietly rushed to grab my $100 digital camcorder, threw a coat on, stepped outside into the calm cold windless night, and started recording. Obviously the camcorder doesn't have the best lowlight capability or quality, or even a night vision feature, but it's the audio that counts! That morning I did some research and found out they are in fact Great Horned Owls: https://www.allaboutbirds.org/guide/Great_Horned_Owl/sounds This was yet another one of these serendipitous nature moments that have happened periodically all throughout my life and I hope you find this moment just as interesting and exciting as I did!
