Fun fact of the day: The first truly portable electric drill was designed by A.H. Petersen in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, in 1918!! The design was commissioned by the Henry Ford Company because its factories needed a lighter, more practical drill for fast moving automobile assembly work. So A.H. Petersen came up with the Hole Shooter!! The average drill at the time weighed around 15-25 lbs (7-11 kg) and required two hands, and sometimes a support brace to operate. The Hole Shooter, on the other hand, weighed only about 5 lbs (2.3 kg) and could be comfortably carried around and operated with one hand, which was unheard of at the time!! The Product beacme so successful that it led to the formation of the company that eventually became Milwaukee Electric Tool, the brand we all know and love today. Over the decades, “Hole-Shooter” became a trademarked name used for Milwaukee’s heavy-duty drills.
