We've already had a look at Rogier van der Weyden. However, there is something really peculiar about the lifelike portraits and contemporary details in his paintings that I'd love to revisit and compare to the early Renaissance, when Western art began to move away from Byzantine style icons. Let's take a little stroll through art history... The books are called "Rogier van der Weyden. Masters of Dutch Art" by Stephan Kemperdick, also available in English, and "Harenberg Museum der Malerei". The particular paintings are the Saint Columba Altarpiece by van der Weyden (on display at the Alte Pinakothek in Munich), the Nativity by the Master of Vyšší Brod/Hohenfurth (in the National Gallery in Prague), the Ognissanti Madonna by Giotto di Bondone and the Santa Trinita Maestà by Cimabue (both in the Uffici in Florence). *** You can support my channel via: Paypal Me - paypal.com/paypalme/melangeasmr Ko-Fi - ko-fi.com/melangeasmr
