Gioachino Greco was the world's foremost chessplayer in the beginning of the 17th century. He was far ahead of his competition, but he would share some of his secrets with his patrons in manuscript and games he would write down for them. Some of these manuscripts survived and were later shared with the public. In this video I go over one of his many instructive games and explain his strategy and moves in detail. The sound is recorded on 3 microphones. For my voice I use a Neumann TLM 49 and for the chessboard I use a stereo pair of Sennheiser MKH50. To listen while using other apps, switch the player to Picture-in-Picture (PiP) during playback — it keeps playing in a small floating window (the screen stays on).
To listen with the screen fully off, in-browser playback stops by YouTube's design. Open the video in the YouTube app to keep listening where background playback is supported (e.g. with YouTube Premium).
