Ghost surgery is when a different doctor performs the surgery instead of the surgeon the patient originally agreed to, without the patient’s knowledge. This practice is illegal in Korea because it violates informed consent and deceives the patient. It can also be dangerous, as the substitute surgeon may not have the same experience or surgical plan, increasing the risk of complications.
