Fun fact of the day: One of the oldest professions in history is actually barbering!! The earliest known barbers date back to Ancient Egypt, around 3000 BCE. Hair grooming was an important practice for priests and nobility back then, as it improved hygiene and showed status!! In Ancient Greece and Rome, barbershops became more of a social hub where men would gather to discuss politics, philosophy, and daily life!! During the Middle Ages, barbers were far more diverse in terms of their skills than ever before, and they became known as barber surgeons!! Some of the things they did, aside from cutting hair, included bloodletting, tooth extractions, and other minor surgeries. This is where the classic red and white barber pole came from. Red represented blood, and white represented bandages!!
