Fun fact of the day: The first heated hair curling iron, also known as a hair curler today, was patented in 1866 by Sir Hiram Stevens Maxim, who was a British-American inventor best known for creating the first fully automatic machine gun, also known as the “Maxim Gun”. In 1872, the design was adopted by French hairdresser François Marcel Grateau, who used the curling iron to create one of the most popular hairstyling techniques of the time, called the “Marcel wave”. Housewives across United States and Europe were rushing to their local hairdressers, lining up to try the new popular look!!
