Let’s take a look at a very famous opening, the Fried Liver Attack. Originating in Italy in the early 1600’s, its name, we believe, is derived from the Italian “Fegatelli” meaning fried liver. However, the term can also mean “cooked” in colloquial Italian, as in, your goose it cooked bud. As you can see, there’s much more than meets the eye in this opening. Good luck! For a much more in depth analysis, I highly recommend Gotham Chess’s two video’s on the Fried Liver as well as the deadly counter attack, the Traxler Defense.
