You're probably familiar with The Kiss, a beautiful Art Nouveau painting by Gustav Klimt. What many don't know is that the robe depicted in it was based on a design by Emilie Flöge, a groundbreaking fashion designer and one of Klimt's closest friend. In this video I'll show you some of her dresses as well as pictures of her Viennese studio from 1905. After that, we'll look through the calming landscape paintings Klimt produced during his summer vacations by the Attersee. Books used in this video: Koja, Stephan: Gustav Klimt. Landschaften. (also available in English as "Landscapes") Fischer, Wolfgang Georg: Gustav Klimt und Emilie Flöge. Genie und Talent, Freundschaft und Besessenheit.
