For all the (mainly middle and high school) kids out there who, like myself back in the 70's & 80's, often hate school for one reason or another, whether it's because you don't like religion and parochial school, don't have an interest in many of the subjects (not every single kid likes Math, Social Studies and Calculus, believe it or not), dislike all the over-testing and the ridiculous amounts of homework with hardly any time to enjoy being a kid, have been picked on or bullied, feel like you don't fit in, or all of the above and then some. Coming at you as the godless animal that I am, not intentionally as a father figure (though it's nearly impossible to completely step out of that role) or a psychologist, I touch on a variety of topics, such as a few of those mentioned above, plus others like respecting yourself and doing enough to graduate in order to get a job and work towards gaining your independence so you don't end up living with your parents at 30 years of age and hating your life. While talking about these subjects I perform some traditional ASMR such as calming hand motions, a questionnaire and exploring the sounds of a few objects. I may revisit this video theme in the future since there are some things I left out and others I could go into greater detail. Learning and gaining knowledge is great, but I believe there is an ongoing problem with these one-size-fits-all organized school systems that do not academically benefit all children. But that's a topic for a whole other video. Stay tuned for more "ASMR for" videos. It is both a sensation and a medium. ASMR stands for Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response and is the current, non-scientific name given to the feeling characterized as a pleasurable tingling sensation felt in the head, scalp, back and other regions of the body in response to visual, auditory, tactile, olfactory, and/or cognitive stimuli, such as crinkling bags, hand movements, whispering, personal attention or watching someone perform a task. It's like goosebumps, but much more pleasant. ASMR videos are meant to intentionally help induce this sensation, also referred to as "tingles", but also provide a relaxing, calming, soothing, therapeutic and even entertaining experience for the viewer. Many people who do not experience ASMR still enjoy the videos for their calming and sleepy effect.
